congratulations on your hostel. an achievement indeed, especially considering the fact that the ones in line were those who have to travel thrice the distance you do in order to attend university.
isnt it strange, we wish people on imporatnt occassions, are polite to them only when they have a purpose to serve. a transaction. u couldn't have put it in a more ludicrous manner.
inherrent also is the assumption that simple labour or an ordinary existence lacks importance and does not command any respect. so by being polite and respectful u obliged the poor guy...left him with no choice but to ensure that your work gets done.
perhaps Dikshant has just toned down what was actually fawning, obsequious beahvior...the subtler bribes we fail to see...

You feel a wrong has happened. Who do you think is at fault?
Is the warden at fault for rewarding someone who made him feel good about himself. Who might have given him the respect he had dreamed of receiving as a hopeful warden?
Is the student at fault for exploiting this opportunity? should he be rewarded for his intelligence in analyzing a situation so effectively? He could very well argue that had he not exploited this situation, somebody else would have by jumping the line.
Is there something wrong with out social fabric? Or is this a basic human failing?
Where does one draw the line?
no one's fault...was just commenting on the pitiable state of affairs...speaking politely to a warden is making his 'dream' come true...
we just need to realize that everyone deserves a certain respect...should ensure that we are polite to each one we speak to or come across and not only we need favors out of them..
hmmmm ....well i do that all the time ...after succumbing to mess food for almost 6 months i have chosen people to mess committee who are actually working and i make it a point to compliment them the mess sec the mess manager and the person who serves food are greeted by one of my sweetest grin in a very religious fashion and i dont forget to say thank you ...so Dikshant is right in a sense thought i doubt if that helped in DSW cause people in JNU are really polite ...belive me ...
